UNEARTH A STORY

Monday, June 8 – Saturday, August 1 

Dig into a good book, uncover hidden histories, and explore the past
with the Hudson Library’s 2026 Summer Learning Program “Unearth a Story!”
 

Important Dates 

Summer Learning lasts from Monday, June 8-Saturday, August 1.  

  • June 8 – First day to log your reading 
  • August 1 – Last day to log your reading 
  • August 8 – Last day to pick up prizes 

How to Participate 

Join Beanstack to log reading and activity challenges for all ages. The Beanstack Tracker keeps track of all reading activities quickly and easily.

Children

Open to all children going into preschool through fifth grade. Program completion is 20 hours.

Every child who registers by June 7 will be entered to win a prize from the Akron RubberDucks. 

 As you read this summer, record on Beanstack the amount of time spent reading. All reading counts including: 

  • Time spent reading yourself 
  • Time books are read to you 
  • Time spent listening to audiobooks 

 As you log your minutes, you will receive the following special rewards: 

          1 hour – instant prize 

          5 hours – instant prize and Ohio State Parks camping coupon 

          10 hours – instant prize, weekly prize drawing entry and an Ohio State Fair ticket 

          15 hours – instant prize, 1 grand prize entry, a certificate for a ticket to either the Cleveland Monsters (Cleveland’s ice hockey team) or the Cleveland Charge (Cleveland’s NBA G League basketball team)

          20 hours – instant prize, 5 grand prize entries, a special finisher prize, plus your picture will be added to our Finishers Display in the Children’s Room!

Keep reading up to 50 hours and complete extra activity badges for more prize opportunities.
For every 5 hours of reading, you’ll add a pom-pom to your grade’s jar.
Each time you visit the library during SLP (no matter why you stop by) enter your name in a drawing to win a pizza party at the end of the summer! 

 

Teens 

Open to all teens going into grades 6-12. Program completion is 25 hours.

Every teen who registers by June 7 will be entered to win a Ming’s gift card 

As you log your minutes, you will receive incentives: every five hours, you will earn 1 entry for our grand prize drawing and a spin on our prize wheel. 

Plus, you will earn more prizes when you reach certain benchmarks: 

          5 hours – Ohio State Parks coupon 

          10 hours – a free admission ticket to the Ohio State Fair

15 hours – a certificate for a ticket to either the Cleveland Monsters (Cleveland’s ice hockey team) or the Cleveland Charge (Cleveland’s NBA G League basketball team)

          25 hours – a book to keep, special finisher prize and 5 grand prize entries

You may log your reading up to 50 hours and participate in the fun summer activities listed in Beanstack to earn more turns at the wheel and grand prize entries.
