The Hudson Library’s Material Selection Policy, which outlines the criteria used for resource acquisition, follows the American Library Association’s guiding principles, and attempts to meet the cultural, informational and recreational needs of our community. Professional librarians, who are responsible for material selection, encourage and give special consideration to customer suggestions. The library’s selection criteria, which is comparable to peer institutions, includes: community needs and interests; the reputation and quality of the author and publishing house; positive critical reviews; material accuracy and technical quality and diversity of views. We welcome writers, who are self-published, to submit their materials to the library for inclusion in our Hudson Author Collection. This special collection, which has been in existence for many years, is located outside the Archives on the second floor of the library and is available for in-house use. To submit your title(s) for consideration, please fill out our updated form below.
