Special Meeting of Members

The Board of Trustees of the Hudson Library & Historical Society has scheduled a Special Meeting of the Members of the Library for Sunday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Flood Room of the Library.  The sole purpose of the Special Meeting is to consider adopting revisions to the Library’s governing Regulations that are recommended by the Board. Members will vote to determine whether to adopt the changes.

Board President Basil Musnuff commented, “The Board reviews the Regulations every five years or so to determine if any revisions are advisable given changing circumstances and current knowledge.  Last year, the Library Membership approved changes to the Regulations recommended by the Board to provide an Early Voting period for the election of board members, among other things.  This year, the Board is recommending further revisions to fine tune the Regulations in response to feedback received regarding these new Early Voting procedures.”

Based on voting patterns, the Board is recommending that the Early Voting period be changed from 21 days to 14 days, which will still provide ample opportunity to vote early while lessening the impact on normal operations of the Library.  Also, the Regulations currently allow for the election of Board members by acclamation without of vote in the event that the number of candidates does not exceed the number of open seats on the Board.  The Board recommends a revision to the Regulations that would also provide that no Early Voting is required in that situation.

Carleen Welch, who chaired the Ad Hoc Committee on Regulations, added, “The Committee worked diligently to evaluate the logistics of the Early Voting system after implementing them this past year and to make recommendations to further refine them.”

Musnuff added, “The Board is excited to bring these revisions to its Membership, and we hope that many of our Members will come out on October 25 to vote on their adoption.”
