Notary Services

We provide free notary services to the public.

Notary services are generally available during regular library business hours; however, availability depends on staff schedules. Please call the Library before your visit to confirm that a notary will be available: 

Notary services are not available 30 minutes before the library closes. 

General Guidelines

• Notaries may not notarize more than four signatures per visit per day.
• Staff members have the right to refuse notarizing documents.
• If your document requires a witness, you must acquire and bring witnesses. The witness must personally know the person whose document is being notarized. Witnesses cannot be provided by the Library, nor can they be solicited from Library patrons.
• Ohio law requires that the person(s) signing the document(s) to be notarized appear in person and present proper identification. Valid forms of identification are: current driver’s license, state-issued ID, US passport, US military ID, or a US permanent resident card.
• Car titles require the seller to have complete information about the sale of the vehicle, including the buyer’s full name and address, sales price, and current mileage of the vehicle. The library will not notarize blank car titles.

Documents We Are Unable to Notarize:

• Any type of Real Estate Documents or Mortgage Documents (Signing agents for real estate documents require additional training. Library notaries are not trained as signing agents).
• Final Wills & Trusts
• Power of Attorney
• Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 Forms (I-9 forms cannot be notarized. The Hudson Library does not serve as an authorized agent for these forms)
• Copy Certifications (Ohio notaries can only notarize Copy Certifications by Document Custodian)
