Discover the Hudson Library on the Ohio Historical Underground Trail

The Hudson Library is one of 53 stops on the Ohio Historical Underground Railroad Trail, which highlights Ohio’s legacy and involvement with the historic network and the people who assisted others to freedom from slavery. 

Hudson, once called the "citadel of abolitionism," was an active stop on the Underground Railroad and was the childhood home of abolitionist John Brown. The Hudson Library is a Network to Freedom research facility and preserves materials documenting Hudson's role in the antislavery movement.

The manuscript collection also features one of the largest holdings of research materials on John Brown and the Brown family, including the entire research collection of Clarence S. Gee, the premier Brown scholar. 

The library offers both in-person and digital walking tours on the Antislavery Movement and Underground Railroad in Hudson.
