Every child who registers before June 5 will be entered to win a very special prize from the Akron Rubber Ducks. The last day to pick up prizes is Saturday, August 12 at 4:30 p.m.

Summer Learning Prizes
Young children can participate using a paper reading log or on Beanstack. Please pick one way to record your reading and activities and stick with it for the whole summer. Regardless of how you record your child’s reading, they can earn an instant prize at 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 hours of reading and grand prize entries at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours. Also, at 5 hours they will get a certificate from the Ohio State Parks. Earn more prizes by completing simple early literacy activity badges on Beanstack or on the paper logging sheet. Complete all 15 activity badges and read 10 hours to complete the Summer Learning Program. Finishers earn a book to keep, plus their picture will be posted in the Children’s Room! Earn an instant prize for reading 1, 5, 10, and 15 hours! At 5 hours you’ll also get a certificate from the Ohio State Parks. At 10 hours you will be entered to win a weekly prize plus earn free ticket to The Ohio State Fair. At 15 hours, you will earn ticket to our grand prize drawing. At 20 hours you’ll complete our SLP Challenge! Completing the challenge will earn you 5 grand prize entry tickets, a book to keep, a Hudson Library lanyard and finisher button, plus your picture will be posted in the Children’s Room! Keep reading up to 50 hours and complete extra activity badges for more prize opportunities. Reading to yourself, being read to, and listening to audiobooks all count as reading.

Log every hour spent reading or listening to audiobooks in Beanstack, beginning June 5. For every 5 hours you log, you will earn 5 entries to our grand prize drawing and a spin on our prize wheel. Plus at 5 Hours get a certificate from the Ohio State Parks and at 10 Hours you’ll receive a free ticket to the Ohio State Fair along with the 5 grand prize entries and spin on the prize wheel. A spin on the wheel could win you an instant prize, a book from our book cart, a sticker from our sticker bucket or another grand prize entry. Complete the challenge at 25 hours and get a book to keep, one grand prize entry, a Hudson Library Lanyard and finisher button. Keep reading for more grand prize entries. Record up to 50 hours, you’ll earn another book to keep! You may also participate in the fun summer activity badges in Beanstack to earn more turns at the wheel and grand prize entries.
Remember: reading includes reading and listening to books and reading articles, news, etc.
Participants in the adult program will be challenged to complete activities on our custom bingo board in Beanstack. Each activity you complete on our bingo board earns you tickets that can be used to enter our weekly gift card drawings to local businesses. If you complete five activities in a line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) or complete the entire bingo board, you will receive extra tickets. All participants who get a bingo or complete the entire board are automatically entered in the grand prize drawing at the end of the program.
