RAIN GARDEN

If you haven't seen the new rain garden at the Hudson Library, take a look next time you drive up Clinton Street.  This project has important environmental, educational and recreational components.  On Saturday, May 10th, the garden was successfully installed through the combined efforts of many community groups.

Participants included: thirty students from Hudson High School's Ecology and Service Learning classes, as well as Scout Troop 327; members of the Hudson Garden Club; and John Spivak from the Hudson City Parks. Sherry Beam provided her gardening expertise to help design the rain garden and she worked closely with Project Coordinator and Library Board Trustee, Bob Swedenborg.

This garden was funded through the generous support of the Hudson Community Foundation, Hudson Kiwanis and First & Main.  Sagamore Soils donated the soil and mulch.

The Library will be hosting a series of gardening programs to highlight environmentally sound gardening practices.  These will include : Organic Gardening (July 1st); Sustainable Gardens (July 10th) and Farms and Foods of Ohio (July 22nd).
