Organic Gardening
& Composting
@ the Hudson
Library & Historical Society
The Hudson Library &
Historical Society will present an Organic Gardening & Composting
program as part of its summer gardening series on Tuesday July 1 at
7 p.m. The guest speaker is Master Gardener, Megan Vance.
Vance will discuss
principles of organic gardening. “Organic gardening requires taking
the garden as a whole into consideration such as soil conditions,
zones, light and climate. When all of these factors are addressed,
only then can you make the proper changes and improvements to your
garden”, explains Vance. She further contends that organic gardening
and composting help to encourage healthy plants and environments for
plants and animals to thrive.
The Master Gardener Program at Ohio State
University’s Extension provides intensive training in horticulture
to interested gardeners. OSU Extension Master Gardeners answer
gardening questions from the public, conduct plant clinics, engage
in community beautification projects, and develop community and
demonstration gardens and other horticultural activities.
Vance will also discuss
organic mulches, animal and insect repellants, beneficial insects,
as well as pet-friendly and child-friendly products you can make and
use in the garden. Vance will also provide handouts on toxic plants
and organic plant and lawn care.
This program at the Hudson Library and
Historical Society is free and open to the public. No registration
is required. For further information contact the Reference
