The Friends of the Hudson Library, Inc. offers scholarships in Library and Information Science to residents of Hudson and the contiguous area as well as non-resident employees of The Hudson Library and Historical Society.
PURPOSE:
To encourage careers in librarianship by providing financial assistance to pursue a graduate degree in library science.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:
The Library Education Scholarship gives grants which do not require repayment. The amount of the grant in any one 12-month period beginning on April 1 shall be $1,500 per calendar year.
ELIGIBILITY:
Any person living in the Hudson area for at least one year prior to application, or any employee of The Hudson Library and Historical Society for at least one year prior to application, who intends to further his/her education in the field of library science from an ALA-accredited school.

Friends of the Hudson Library has awarded two $1,500 scholarships for graduate work in Library and Information Science. This year’s recipients are Lan Gao and Beth Thompson. Both Lan and Beth were winners of our 2010 scholarship and we are glad to welcome them back.
Scholarships are offered each year to residents of Hudson and the contiguous area as well as to non-resident employees of the Hudson Library and Historical Society to encourage careers in the field of librarianship.
Lan Gao, a Hudson resident, has been employed at Hudson Library since 2007. Lan earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in China and is currently enrolled at Kent State working toward her Masters Degree in Library Science. Lan will graduate from Kent in 2012.
Beth Thompson plans to graduate from the MLIS program at Kent in August 2011. A Stow resident, Beth is currently employed as a Graduate Student Assistant in Technical Services and as a Graduate Student Cataloger in the Performing Arts Library at Kent. She has also earned a Masters Degree in Music from Kent State.
