Terex Memorabilia

The earth moving equipment industry grew much during the 20th century in the United States. The Euclid Crane and Hoist Company of Euclid Ohio was acquired by General Motors in 1953. In 1957 a new modern efficient manufacturing plant in Hudson Ohio was opened to produce crawler tractors.  At this time the name of the company was changed from Euclid Crane to Terex. Initially at 668,897 square feet of space it was the most modern and best equipped plant for producing earth moving equipment of the time. In 1970 GM designated their new Earth Moving Equipment Engineering and Research division as TEREX. In 1981, GM sold the TEREX division to a West German company. The late 1980's brought an economic recession and ultimately the removal of TEREX from Hudson Ohio. At its height, TEREX employed almost one thousand workers in Hudson.
