Friends of the Hudson Library has awarded three $1,500 scholarships for graduate work in library and information science.  This year’s recipients are Sandy Tucker, Linda Doll and Theresa Young.

Scholarships are offered each year to residents of Hudson and the contiguous area as well as to non-resident employees of the Hudson Library and Historical Society to encourage careers in the field of librarianship

Linda Doll, a Hudson resident, is a recent graduate of Kent State University with a dual major of Library Science/Information and Knowledge Management with a concentration in Knowledge Management.  She is planning on becoming a digital librarian and hopes to use her new skills and abilities to make information more accessible to patrons.

Sandy Tucker, a resident of Aurora, has been a part-time Youth Services Librarian for the Aurora Memorial Library for the past eight years.  Sandy is a graduate student at Kent State University where she is pursuing a master’s degree in Library and Information Science.  Her area of concentration is Children’s and Young Adult Librarianship.  Her expected graduation date is May 2010 and her hope is to eventually work full-time in one of these areas.

Theresa Young,  is a Hudson resident and a recent graduate from Denison.  Her interest lies in corporate archives and records management.  She will graduate from Kent State University Library Science in 2010.

Friends of the Hudson Library has made scholarships available since 1992.  These grants do not require repayment.  They are advertised each year between January 1 and April 1 by public notice at six libraries in the area and Kent State University School of Library and Information Science.  Monies to fund these scholarships are made available through the sale of used books and through the Friends of the Library annual membership drive.

We thank you for your support!
