Samuel B. Bediant

In 1877 Hudson resident Samuel Bediant (1837-1912) devised a self steering traction engine. Beidant was an expert machinist and trained as a blacksmith. He was famous for his friendly disposition and many useful inventions.
This image shows him on the traction engine on its first trip.
