Uncover Your Family Secrets

Genealogy has gone mainstream! Current television shows exploring celebrities' family histories include Lisa Kudrow's 'Who Do You Think You Are?' on NBC and PBS's 'Faces of America' hosted by Dr. Henry Louis Gates. If your interest has been piqued by this recent surge in popularity for searching one's family tree, Hudson Library & Historical Society is here to help. Members of the library's Genealogical Study Group will be offering one-on-one assistance to help anyone get started with family research. These volunteers are all well acquainted with the various print and electronic resources the library's archives department offers, such as Ancestry.com, Footnote.com and HeritageQuest.com, as well as church records, census records, obituary files and the library's online catalog. The Library's users are fortunate that volunteers from the Hudson Genealogical Study Group are available for assistance. The volunteers are eager to explain the resources of the Library and to help users get started doing their own research. The study group is always welcome to new members. The group meets every month at the library. The currently schedule can be found on the Hudson Genealogical Study Group website. These on-site, individual sessions are free and by appointment only. Please call the Archives Department at 330.653.6658, ext. 1017 or email archives3@hudson.lib.oh.us to set up an appointment.
