Genealogy

The Hudson Library & Historical Society maintains a vast collection of genealogy materials with an emphasis on sources for the eastern United States and especially Ohio. Some of our resources include:

  • A large genealogical book collection, some available for circulation
  • A wide variety of genealogical magazines
  • Subscription databases for state-of-the-art family history research
  • Federal census records dating back to 1790
  • Summit County vital records a microfilm collection of 19th and early 20th century records of Summit County, including births, deaths, marriages, wills, and property records.
  • Extensive collection of county histories
  • Hudson necrology file a file of obituaries of Hudson residents

The Hudson Library & Historical Society is happy to offer assistance with any of these resources. In addition, we now facilitate one-on-one genealogical research assistance by appointment through the Hudson Genealogical Study Group. The study group also provides genealogy programs on a wide range of topics at the library throughout the library.
