96th  Annual Meeting
Sunday, February 17, 2008
 

 

The following citizens of Hudson
have applied to be a candidate for election to
the Hudson Library & Historical Society Board of Directors:

 
     
KAREN L. HENSEL A professional realtor for 20 years, a former professor at Hondros College, and
Director of Marketing for Phoenix Equity Planning Corp, Ms Hensel is participating this year in Leadership Hudson. For the last year she has she has volunteered as a Friend of the Library.
 
     
JACQUELINE BOESINGER Ms. Boesinger is co founder of Xandra Renouvelle, a distributor of organic
body care products headquartered in Hudson. She majored in English—(B.A.)—and also has taken post graduate work in business, both at Case Western Reserve University. She has served on several other non profit boards in greater Cleveland.
 
     
JAMES C. SEXTON III Mr. Sexton is a financial planner with a B.A. degree from Akron University. He
has experience helping both individual clients and small businesses. He often teaches classes on retirement planning; and on his avocation, fly casting.
 “I would like to lend any skills I have to make the library an even more productive
 and wonderful place.”.
 
     
MELISSA THOMSON Ms. Thomson holds a B.A. and PhD degree in English. She has co authored non fiction books for middle school readers, and is currently Vice President of the Writing Toolbox in Akron.
An incumbent member and presently chairman of the Hudson Library Board, she is presently seeking reelection to the Board. She also enjoys being a parent volunteer for the high school orchestra..
 
     
DAVID M. LaGUARDIA Professor of English and Academic Vice President at John Carroll University,
Dr.LaGuardia oversees the university’s academic budget. The school’s librarian reports to him, providing him “a keen awareness of library challenges, finances, and functions.”
He is particularly interested in serving on the Finance or Endowment committees.
 
     
MIKE MOLONEY Mr. Moloney is Senior Vice President of National City Bank in the field of commercial bank planning and performance. He holds a B.A. degree (Miami U.) and his MBA (Case Western Reserve).
A member of the library board and chairman of the finance committee, Mike is an incumbent seeking reelection. He and his wife have three young children.
 
     
BARBARA J. LEUKART Ms. Leukart is a law partner in the firm of Jones Day. Her specialty is employment and labor litigation. A graduate of Barnard College and Case Western Reserve, she is a
Presidential Fellow of the law school. Ms Leukart has participated in strategic planning for both Cleveland Public Art and Providence House. She sees the library
 “as an uncensored storehouse of thought, information, literature and entertainment….”
 
     
LARRY SCHMIDT Now at the end of a 34 year career in the field of management consulting and information
technology—(much of it with IBM). Mr. Schmidt has worked with executive client teams
in a variety of industries. He has volunteered at the Hudson Library, using his computer and teaching skills.
His degree is in business administration with additional post graduate certifications.
 
     
ALEX CONSTABLE Mr. Constable holds both BA and MBA degrees from Cleveland State (with dual
concentrations in finance and business statistics). He is a Senior Manager with
CBIZ Accounting, Tax & Advisory Services, LLC., and a member of both the
American Institute of C.P.A.’s and the American Society of Appraisers.
Alex has been a volunteer leader for local and national diabetes associations.
 
     
TERRY SWEARINGEN Mr. Swearingen served 39 years for the Stow‐Munroe Falls City Schools
(Teacher, Principal, Curriculum Director, and Director of Human Resources). Now he
looks for an opportunity to contribute service to the community in which he lives.
He has degrees from Ohio State and Kent State.
Mr. Swearingen believes the library “should be a leader in information technologies and
committed to outreach in this area….”
 
     
NOELLE McCLURE Ms McClure is a system specialist in mortgage banking for AmTrust. Her B.A. is
from Hiram and her M.B.A. from the Univ. of Phoenix. She hopes to participate in the library’s finance committee and strategic planning. She writes, “…I want to give back to the library and community I have come to love and depend upon over the years….”
 
     
MARY JO CHROBAK A Vice President of National City Bank, Ms. Chrobak is in project management,
with leadership experience in technology consulting and strategic planning, managing large and small teams Her B.A. in applied business is from the University of Akron, and her MBA is “in progress” at the Weatherhead School of Management. She writes, “I believe strongly in family time and education, both of which can be fulfilled at a library.”
 
     
JOHN B. PHIPPS Mr. Phipps has a B.A.from Notre Dame (naval science); a B.Sc. from Case (chemical
engineering); and a business degree from Harvard. He has been in sales, plant management and Vice President for a major corporation. A resident of Hudson for 40 years, Mr. Phipps has traveled worldwide.
He believes the library should provide, not simply resources of knowledge, but also seminars on topics of local and national interest.
