From the Director

The Hudson Library & Historical Society occupies a central place in Hudson’s downtown. It is also at the center of our community’s intellectual and cultural life. This past year marked an important milestone for the library - one hundred years of quality service to our community!  Our remarkable journey has taken us from a collection of just 500 books housed at the Club House on Western Reserve Academy’s campus to a world class 21st century library facility with a resource       collection of over 216,000 items.

In 2010, the library broke all previous records for use. Ninety percent of  Hudson residents currently have library cards. Last year over 900,000 items were checked out of the library and more than 29,000 people attended 750 library programs on a wide range of topics. The Children’s Summer Reading program broke records for participation and the library received national       recognition for the exceptional service it provides our community.

I feel fortunate to work for a community who cares, participates and makes the library a part of their daily lives.
